COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were at home for the first time this season on Friday, September 4th as they hosted the Lions of Emmanuel University. The Knights were looking for their first win of the season after losing the first two on the road while the Lions were also seeking their first win of the season.
The action did not take long to start as the Knights got on the board in the sixth minute with a goal from
Madeline Miller. Both teams were able to fire off shots but the defenses were stout. The Knights got another goal from Miller in the 23rd minute to extend their lead before the Lions started to control the ball. The Lions started to fire off more shots but many were not on target as the Knights kept the 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
After an hour long lightning delay, the match resumed as the Knights got their third goal of the night from
Ida Lindgren in the 60th minute and the Knights looked poised to get the win. The Knights continued to apply pressure until the 79th minute when the Lions drew a foul within the penalty box to get the penalty kick. They would convert and the lead fell to 3-1. The Lions fired off two more shots in the late stages of the match but were unable to convert either chance and the Knights won the match.
The win brings the Knights record to 1-2 as they look to get back to .500 on the season on Sunday, September 6th as they host the Buccaneers of Barry University. Kick off is scheduled for 11 AM EST.
