Box Score Elizabethton, TN - The Knights hit the road to open their season as they would take on the #22 Buffaloes of Milligan University. The Knights were looking to find the form that they showed early last season before stumbling down the stretch.
First Half
The Knights would be playing defense early as the Buffaloes would take four corner kicks and four shots before the Knights would produce any offense as
Martin Villalba would miss a header high for the Knights first shot of the game. The Knights would continue to struggle producing offense as they would get off only two more shots in the second half, coming from
Nico del Pilato and
Alain Skerritt. The Knights defense would crack in the 41st minute as the Buffaloes would get on the board. The Knights were outshot in the half 11-3.
Second Half
The second half of the match would be much like the first half as the Knights would be unable to control the ball to get off many shots. The Buffaloes would extend their lead in the 52nd minute as they would go up 2-0.
Marino Graf would be shown the yellow card in the 53rd minute but would follow it up with a shot attempt in the 57th minute that would be blocked by the Buffaloes defense. The game would go quiet until the 77th minute when
Jose Ortiz would score the first goal of the season for the Knights with
Jack Pearson assisting on the goal to cut the lead down to 2-1. The Buffaloes would answer back quickly as they would score less than one minute later to push the lead to 3-1. It would end up being the final goal as the Knights would lose the opening game of the season, 3-1.
The Knights were outshot in the game 17-5 as they struggled to produce any offense outside of the one goal.

James Price was able to save six shots in the losing effort. The Knights will look to bounce back on Friday, August 27th as they host the SCAD-Savannah Bees in the home opener. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
