Knights Swarmed in Loss to Bees

8/27/2021 9:39:00 PM

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on Friday, this time at home as they hosted the Bees from SCAD-Savannah as they looked to get back to .500 on the season after losing their season opener to #22 Milligan University.

First Half

The Knights opened the first half of the match as they would possess the ball in the offensive half before the Bees would strike first as they would get on the board in the 7th minute with a shot from outside the box that would just manage to get by the Knights goalie. The Knights would get a shot at tying the match up in the 16th minute as Marino Graf would hit a shot but the ball would go off the crossbar and put into play. The Knights offense would go quiet until the final 15 minutes of the half would get off some more shots, the most important of those shots coming in the final minute of the half as the Knights would draw the foul in the penalty area and have the opportunity to tie the game but the penalty kick by Lennox Dixon would be saved by the Bees goalie and the Knights deficit would remain 1-0 going into halftime. The Knights and Bees were evenly matched in the first half as the Knights would have the advantage on shots taken at 5-4.

Second Half

The Knights would start the second half almost exactly as they did the first half as they would be on offense at the start with the first corner kick and shot of the second half before the Bees would strike in the 53rd minute. The Bees would take control of the game at that point as they would score another goal in the 66th minute as the Knights would start to falter. The Knights would continue to try and get on the board as they would keep shooting their shots but could not find the back of the net as they would go on to lose 3-0.

The Knights were outshot in the match 12-10 as Thiago Kittelmann and Joseph Aguirre each acquired a yellow card in the match. The Knights will be back in action on Thursday, September 2nd as they will back on the road to take on NCAA-DII Georgia Southwestern in Americus, Georgia. That match will kick off at 7:30 PM.
