Box Score Miami Gardens, FL - The Knights were back on the field on Tuesday as they were set to take on the Bulldogs of McPherson College. Both teams were in the loser's bracket of the Opening Round so it was either win and stay or lose and go home. The Knights looked sluggish early as the Bulldogs would score runs in the first three innings of the game and the Knights would be down 4-0 after three innings of play. The Knights would get one run back in the fourth inning after Rafael Gomez Jr would lead off the inning with a double and
Ryan Wilson would later hit a sacrifice fly to bring Gomez in and the Knights would cut the lead to 4-1. The Bulldogs would answer back with a run in the fifth inning but the Knights would get some two out magic with a double from
Blake Metcalfe and back-to-back singles from
Andrew Krauss and
Jaiden Duarte as the Knights would cut the lead down to 5-2. The Bulldogs would have an answer though as they would score two runs to extend the lead to 7-2. The Knights would bring out some more magic in the bottom of the sixth as
Derick Stager would draw a walk with the bases loaded to score a run. Metcalfe would hit a two run double and a sacrifice fly from Krauss would put the Knights within one as a wild pitch would allow Metcalfe to score and the Knights would tie the game at 7-7. The Knights would not be able to hold on to the momentum as the Bulldogs would score two runs in the seventh inning and put the game out of reach with six runs in the eighth inning. The Knights would show a glimpse of hope as they would score two runs in the bottom half of the eighth inning on a Stager RBI double and a Krauss RBI groundout but the deficit would be too much to overcome as the Knights would go on to lose 15-9. The loss ends the Knights season as they finish with a record of 30-21-1.
