Cochran, GA – Middle Georgia State University head men's soccer coach Scott Henderson has announced the 2024 men's soccer season schedule. The Knights will enter their third season with Henderson at the helm as they look to make a push to the SSAC Tournament for the first time since 2021.
"We want our last season with the NAIA to be a memorable one, as we establish our expectation of success. MGA has a proud soccer tradition and it's time to bring that high level of achievement back to the field. I'm so proud of our guys and how they have represented MGA. James Skelton's who has shown great patience and loyalty to our program. Also returning, is a committed core of young players who put in significant minutes last season, such as
Moos Zwerts,
Tobias Prokert,
Chase Giron,
Landen Laris, and
Sho Mineji. We have a great recruiting class coming in to add to the program and they believe in where we are taking this team. This group of talent and dedication will initiate the breakout season MGA has been driving toward." said Henderson.
The Knights will have two road preseason matches against Reinhardt University and Columbia International University to start off the schedule to knock off the rust of the offseason which will take place on August 10
th and August 17
th respectively.
The regular season for the Knights will kick off at NeSmith Field on August 22
nd against Ave Maria University followed by Pensacola Christian College on August 24
th. The Knights will then alternate between home and away matches when they play Columbia College on the road and return home to face Truett-McConnell University. The Knights will travel to Americus, Georgia for an exhibition match against Division II Georgia Southwestern before returning home to face Florida College and rounding out the non-conference schedule with an away match against Trinity Baptist College.
The Knights will open SSAC conference play on the road with four straight matches, traveling to Point University, Faulkner University, William Carey University, and the University of Mobile. The team will return home for most of the month of October as they take on Life University, Dalton State College, UT-Southern, Blue Mountain Christian University, and Thomas University in a five-match home stretch before ending their home schedule with a match against Division III LaGrange College in a celebration of the 2024 Senior class.
The Knights will close out the regular season when they travel to Mount Vernon, Georgia to take on SSAC rivals Brewton-Parker College on October 24
th.
