MACON, Ga.- On the heels of a historic announcement last week of their acceptance as a provisional member of NCAA Division II, Middle Georgia State University has announced a relaunch of the Knights Athletic Association, the official fundraising arm of MGA Athletics.
A previously active booster club in 2020-21, the purpose of the Knights Athletic Association (KAA) is to generate financial support for the athletic programs at the University. The generosity of KAA members, both individuals and corporate sponsors, impacts the success of MGA student-athletes on the field or court, in the classroom and in assisting them with reaching their fullest potential for life after sport.
"A lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to re-launch the Knights Athletic Association and I'm thrilled that MGA Knights' fans, alumni and supporters will have several different ways to get involved," said Director of Athletics,
Michael Brown.
"The opportunity to impact the quality of experience of our student-athletes while they compete as Knights is truly life-changing whether it be through assisting with scholarships, the NCAA Division II transition or other strategic initiatives, our top priority is continuing to raise the bar and we must elevate our available resources to accomplish our goals," said Brown.
The Knights Athletic Association will provide several different ways for supporters to get involved including the KAA Annual Club which features a number of exciting incentives for members. Supporters can also give directly to the team of their choice or be involved in more long-term commitments like planned giving, endowed scholarships and in special events like the annual MGA Knights Golf Tournament.
The excitement building on campus surrounding the transition of Middle Georgia State University Athletics to NCAA Division II and the Peach Belt Conference made for an ideal time to re-launch the KAA.
"Having a dedicated space to focus on surrounding our student-athletes, coaches and teams with the necessary resources to compete and win at the NCAA Division II level is the driving force behind our efforts to relaunch the KAA," said
Bobby Kummer, Development Officer for Athletic Initiatives.
"We know the impact of the support our programs will receive through the KAA will help launch the trajectory of Middle Georgia State Athletics into a very bright future and we are calling on all supporters of the Knights to step up and assist us as we move through this transition into becoming full members of the NCAA," continued Kummer.
