Baseball Takes Game 3 to Win Series Against #6 St. Thomas University

COCHRAN, GA - The baseball team hosted the #6 St. Thomas University Bobcats for a 3-game series on Friday and Saturday.  After splitting the doubleheader on Friday, the Knights took game 3 on Saturday by a score of 19-7 and shortened the game to 7 innings.  

The Knights jumped out to an early lead with 9 in the first.  An RBI single by Blake Jackson got the scoring started followed by an RBI single by Robbie Hanlon.  Chris Burgess drew an RBI walk and the Bobcats changed pitchers.  An RBI hit-by-pitch for Colby Owens and wild pitch put up 2 more for the Knights.  Bucky McGlamrey got an RBI single  then back-to-back walks loaded the bases and sent home another run.  After a new pitcher came in, the 4th of the inning, a hit-by-pitch for Zach Cornell and wild pitch plated 2 more giving the Knights a 9-0 lead after 1.  Kyle Anderson got through the first 2 innings with no trouble and 11 runs of support as Trent Nash got an RBI single and Jacob Durant got an RBI on a fielder's choice in the second.  Anderson walked 2 and a hit-by-pitch in the top of the 3rd before getting a lineout and was pulled after walking another batter.  Drew Martens came on in relief and got out of the inning after 6 runs were scored on 3 hits and the Knights led 11-6.  The Knights struck again in the bottom of the 4th with a 5-spot with 2 hits.  An RBI double by Nash and RBI groundout by Durant scored the first 2 then an RBI walk by Rookard and a balk by the Bobcats' pitcher made it 15-6.  A sacrifice fly by Burgess capped the inning and a 16-6 lead.  Neither team scored in the 5th but the Knights put up 3 more in the 6th with an RBI single by Rookard, RBI walk by Owens, and RBI groundout for McGlamrey.  The Knights gave up a run in the top of the 7th but the 19-7 lead was enough to call the game after 7 innings.  The win was earned by Drew Martens who entered in the 3rd inning and threw 2.1 innings with 5 hits, 3 strikeouts, and gave up 2 runs.

The Knights host Talladega College in a 3-game series starting Friday, February 15 with a single game at 3PM then a doubleheader starting at 1PM on February 16th.
