Box Score Cochran, GA – The Knights (27-8, 12-3) came into today's contest looking to add onto their winning streak from their 3-0 conference sweep against William Carey University. The Knights were able to do this with a 13-3 win over Thomas University (18-18, 4-8) in 8 innings on the same day the NAIA Top 25 Coach's Polls were released and the team held in the 8-spot for the 3rd straight time.
All 9 starters had a hit in the victory over the Night Hawks. The Knights jumped out on a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning after a 2 run single by
Jacob Durant. Durant finished the day going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. The Knights would then go on and score one run a piece in both the 2nd and 3rd innings giving them a 4-0 lead going into the top of the 7th.
The Night Hawks came alive in the 7th scoring 3 runs with a homerun from Raines Plant. The Knights answered back quickly with
Zach Cornell's 2-run homerun. Cornell would finish the day going 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs. The Knights went on to score 6 more runs that inning from 7 other hits making their lead 12-3. The Knights would finish the game in the 8th inning with a RBI single from
Robbie Hanlon III who finished the day 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs.
Alex Snider gets the win for the Knights, pitching 5.0 innings and allowing only 3 hits from the 18 Night Hawks he faced.
With this win, the Knights get a season sweep against Thomas (Ga.) going 4-0. The Knights will be back in action on the road tomorrow, April 3, at Georgia Southwestern. First pitch will be at 6:00 PM.
