PULASKI, TN - The 10th ranked baseball team traveled to Pulaski, TN for their final 3-game series of the regular season and won two out of three against the Martin Methodist Red Hawks with a win Thursday followed by a split of the doubleheader on Friday the 26th.  The Knights lost game 1 of the doubleheader 5-4 on a walk-off single and won game 2 by a score of 4-2 as Jason Gifford and Logan Carter both pitched well to limit the Red Hawks.

Game 1 started well for the Knights as they picked up a pair of runs on a hit and an error in the top of the 1st as MJ Rookard grounded into a fielder's choice 1-2 then the catcher threw the ball away trying to double him off at 1st allowing a pair of runs to come in.  Jackson Braden got the start for the Knights and was perfect through 3.2 innings before giving up a 2-out single in the 4th.  Jacob Durant tripled to lead off the 5th and scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead.  Back-to-back doubles by Zach Cornell and Rookard in the 6th added another run for a 4-0 lead but the Red Hawks finally got to Braden in the 6th for 3 runs with 2 outs.  Cam Bailey came in and gave up a hit with a run charged to Braden before striking out the final batter but the Knights lead was cut to 4-3.  The Knights stranded a runner at 3rd in the 7th and Bailey gave up a pair of runs in the bottom of the 7th as Devan Harriman gave up the walk-off single with the Knights losing 5-4.  Bailey took the loss for while Braden went 5.2 innings with 5 hits and 3 earned runs striking out 5.  The Knights did not walk a batter in the game.

Game 2 started out thiw the Knights getting an RBI double from Cornell for a 1-0 lead in the 1st.  The Red Hawks answered with a run on 4 hits in the 2nd for a 1-1 tie after 2.  That was the score until the 4th when Colby Owens drove home Blake Jackson when he reached on an error for a 2-1 lead.  The Knights got 2 more in the 5th as Jackson's sac fly sent Bucky McGlamrey home and Robbie Hanlon scored on a wild pitch to lead 4-1.  Gifford gave up an unearned run in the bottom of the 5th on a pair of hits and an error trimming the lead to 4-2.  Gifford completed 5 innings allowing 8 hits and an unearned run with 3 strike outs and 0 walks.  He was relieved by Carter in the 6th who went 4.0 innings scattering 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7 to earn the save.  Gifford earned his 6 victory of the season against no losses and Carter got his 3rd save.

The Knights are now 37-12 on the season and 20-7 in SSAC play as they prepare for the SSAC Tournament which starts in Montgomery, AL on May 1.  The full schedule will be available on Sunday, May 27th with the 2nd seeded Knights facing the team which ends up with the 7-seed and could be the Red Hawks, or one of a couple of other teams.
