Box Score Mount Vernon, GA - The Knights started the season on the road in Mount Vernon, Georgia as they played the Barons of Brewton-Parker College in a non-conference matchup. The Knights were opening their season while the Barons already had four games under their belts. The Knights were looking to get off to a good start as they had to replace their entire starting pitching staff plus a few position players. The game would start off on a high note for the Knights as JT Rice would lead off the game with a solo home run to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. After a Jacob Pierce single and two stolen bases, Zane Faulk would hit a sacrifice fly to put the Knights up 2-0 after the first inning. The bats for the Knights would cool off though as they would not record a hit until the fifth inning. The Knights get two hits in the fifth and sixth innings and three hits in the seventh inning but would be unable to drive in any runs as the Knights would lose the game 12-2. Rice would go 2-for-4 with an RBI and Datren Bray and Yadiel Perez would each go 2-for-3. The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, February 3rd as they will host the Barons in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
